Rick Mikels has been named the new president/CEO of Tennessee Members 1st Federal Credit Union.

He succeeds the retiring Robert (Bob) LaGanke, who served 12 years at the helm of the $86 million credit union in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Mikels spent the last eight years as president/CEO of the $16 million East Tennessee Military Association Federal Credit Union in Louisville, Tenn. He is also a board member of the Nashville-based Volunteer Corporate Credit Union.

"Rick has a great deal of financial and business knowledge and we are confident that he will bring a successful future to Tennessee Members 1st FCU," Wayne Missaggia, chairman of Members 1st, said.

"Rick has many great ideas for continuing and enhancing the history of growth and exceptional member service of Tennessee Members 1st," Missaggia said. "His leadership will be critical in finding new ways to serve our membership and meet their financial needs."

While at ETMA FCU, Mikels directed all operations and was instrumental in the enhancement of the credit union's website, internet and mobile banking services as well as expanding into new markets and improving the overall financial strength, according to a press release.

Previously, he served as CFO for the $1.3 billion Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union in Knoxville, Tenn.

Mikels is a Certified Credit Union Executive and a graduate of the CUES School of Business Lending.

He has a Bachelor's of Science in finance from the University of Tennessee and a Master's of Business Administration in nanagement from Tennessee Technological University.
