The $414 million Educational Community Credit Union in Kalamazoo, Mich., recently raised more than $1,100 for the Great Lakes Burn Camp on Pretty Lake near Mattawan, Mich. The staff at ECCU raised the funds by paying for the right to wear jeans to work one recent week. “Our mission is to bring together children who've suffered similar injuries for friendship and fun,” said camp director Mike Longenecker, a firefighter who co-founded the camp in 1995. “Here, kids feel comfortable and realize they're not alone with their scars.” Shown here are a group from the burn camp's session last winter.
