East
The $2.4 billion Service Credit Union of Portsmouth, N.H., opened its 42nd branch. The Tilton branch is the credit union's 25th in New Hampshire and 12th in-store branch and is its first in Belknap County. It's located inside a Wal-Mart on Sherwood Drive.
The $2.2 billion Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union of Westbury, N.Y., relocated its Syosset branch into the site of a former Rite Aid store on Jackson Avenue. The site was chosen for its convenience and location in the center of town. NEFCU serves Suffolk and Nassau counties on Long Island. NEFCU also moved its LIU post branch into a new, 4,100-square-foot facility about two miles away from the on-campus branch at LIU Post it replaces.
The $1.4 billion American Heritage Federal Credit Union of Philadelphia opened its new Quakertown Branch in the Country Square Shopping Center. The facility has three teller stations, an Internet café, free coin counting, ATM and a personal teller machine, the credit union's location to feature the two-way service machines.
South
The $234 million Pelican State Credit Union of Baton Rouge, La., opened its new Lake Charles branch, replacing one it acquired with its 2010 merger with Lake Charles TELCO Federal Credit Union. More space, parking and staff – including a mortgage representative – are featured, as well as a drive-through line and 24-hour ATM.
The $456 million Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union of Clarksville, Tenn., opened a new branch in Oak Grove, Ky. The new location at 208 Segler Drive near a Wal-Mart gives military members and non-military members alike another way to conduct business without having to enter the post. It's the credit union's 10th branch.
The $421 million ABNB Federal Credit Union of Chesapeake, Va., opened its new General Booth branch in Virginia Beach. Monday through Saturday hours are offered, as well as multiple drive-up lanes, a 24-hour ATM and member, investment and insurance services. The credit union now has 14 branches.
Midwest
The $586 million Corporate America Family Credit Union of Elgin, Ill, opened a new branch at 111 E. Wacker in Chicago. The facility is CAFCU's 19th and includes personal teller machines.
The $970 million Meritrust Credit Union of Wichita, Kan., plans to open a new branch later this year in the Lakeside at the Moorings development, a commercial mixed-use property near North Meridian and K-96 in Wichita. The state-of-the-art Meritrust branch will replace an existing branch located in the Twin Lakes area and will be the first in Wichita to be built using a new prototype design mirroring the location currently under construction in Manhattan, Kan., including several elements that reflect its commitment to innovation and sustainability, with energy-efficient building materials. Once the location is complete in the fall, Meritrust will consolidate the existing Twin Lakes location into the new location. Meritrust currently has 11 branches in the Wichita area, two in Lawrence and one in Junction City.
West
The $1.1 billion A+ Federal Credit Union of Austin, Texas, plans to open its first branch in the Killeen area in 2015. The facility will be on Memory Lane at U.S. 190 between a Sam's Club and Wal-Mart. A+FCU currently has 17 Austin-area locations.
The $2.1 billion GECU of El Paso, Texas, opened a new branch at 7955 N. Mesa as part of its citywide expansion plans. Two other branches have recently opened while two more and relocation are planned this year. GECU now has 18 locations.
The $2.1 billion Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union of Albuquerque, N.M., broke ground for a new branch to open this year in Rio Rancho. It will serve retail and commercial members of SLFCU with a full-service lobby, drive-up ATMs and four drive-through teller lanes.
The $5.6 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union of Anchorage opened its first branch in Tacoma, Wash., and now has 27 branches in that state, including eight that have opened in the past two years. The credit union operates 68 branches throughout Alaska, California and Washington. The new branch offers a depository, 24-hour ATM and a self-service center, and will be open seven days a week and most holidays.
The $6.5 billion San Diego County Credit Union opened its 33rd branch, in the first floor of a high-rise office building in the North Park area now called the sdccu.com Tower. The new branch offers loan and new account stations, teller stations, an exterior ATM and is open Monday through Saturday.
