The $929 million WEOKIE Credit Union in Oklahoma City ismourning the loss of charter board member Jack D. McCurdy.

McCurdy, who had served on the board since the credit union wasfounded in 1969, died on April 17, WEOKIE said in anannouncement.

“It is very difficult to fully express the profound impact thatJack had on WEOKIE Credit Union and the people involved in theorganization. From day one, Jack was integrally involved andprovided his guidance and expertise in many ways through decades ofvolunteer service,” WEOKIE's President/CEO Brent Taylor said in theannouncement.

McCurdy was a retired Western Electric engineering manager andalso had volunteered as a member of the Oklahoma State Credit Unionboard. He was a CUES Director of the Year in 1997 and was inductedinto the CUES Hall of Fame in 2009.

WEOKIE's newest building, completed in December 2010, was namedthe Jack D. McCurdy Operations Center in his honor, the51,800-member credit union said.

McCurdy, a Navy veteran, was 77. He was survived by his wife of57 years, Dee McCurdy, three children, eight grandchildren and twogreat-grandchildren.
