New York’s largest cooperative, the $5.4 billion Bethpage Federal Credit Union, is making a $1.5 million contribution in exchange for the naming rights of Long Island University Post’s stadium that is under renovation.

Bethpage FCU also holds the naming rights of a 6,000-seat minor league baseball ballpark in North Islip, N.Y.

The new Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville, N.Y., will open in fall 2014 with an all-new, high-tech press box and sound system, signage, bleachers and grassy-hill seating for picnicking.

The stadium will not only serve as home field for the university’s intercollegiate football, lacrosse and field hockey teams, but also as a local center  for camps, high school activities and other community events, the Bethpage N.Y.-based credit union said in a prepared statement.

The stadium sponsorship will also allow Bethpage FCU to open a new branch on Long Island University’s campus this summer. In addition to providing financial services, the branch will co-sponsor financial literacy seminars and summer sports camps.

“Bethpage is dedicated to supporting educational initiatives here on Long Island. We are thrilled to join together with LIU Post to form this exciting partnership that will surely have a positive impact for many,” said Kirk Kordeleski, president/CEO of Bethpage FCU. “Long Island is fortunate to have LIU Post, one of our country’s leading universities, right in our own backyard.”
