John Scott has resigned from the Board of Directors at Commonwealth Credit Union in Frankfort, Ky., after36 years of service.

He had been chairman the past 25 years and his resignation was effective Jan. 31, the $944 million, 83,200-member Commonwealth Credit Union said in its announcement on Feb. 14.

“Mr. Scott's extraordinary leadership helped guide Commonwealth Credit Union to its position as one of the state's largest credit unions,” President/CEO Karen Harbin said in the announcement. “His insight, advice and the valuable contributions he made during his tenure as director will be missed.”

When Scott joined the board in 1978, the credit union had approximately 10,000 members, one branch located in a small office space in Frankfort, and assets of $7.4 million. It now has seven branches and offers mobile and online banking and a global ATM network to its members.
