The $217 million Fall River Municipal Credit Union inMassachusetts has converted to the Symitar Episys core processingsystem through the service bureau run by Synergent Technology Services, part ofthe Maine Credit Union League.

The 16,600-member credit union – with offices in Fall River,Lakeville, Assonet and Swansea – also has converted to Synergent'scheck collection and share draft processing services and the Jwaalaonline banking solution, Synergentsaid in an announcement on Jan. 17.

“In seeking a core processor, we were cognizant of theneed to offer passbooks to our current membership,” said Fall RiverMunicipal President/CEO Matthew Schondek. “Synergent will supportthe passbook accounts while providing improvements in the onlineand bill pay features needed to attract newer members who expectthe latest technology.”

Fall River Municipal had been running on the Fiserv DataSafesystem, according to data from Callahan & Associates. In 2013,there were 193 credit unions over $20 million in assets running onthat platform, originally offered by the former USERS operation,according to Callahan's 2014 market share guide.

More than 750 credit unions use Symitar systems, including 47through Synergent, the guide said.
