The $137 million Tempe Schools Credit Union in Tempe, Ariz., will change itsname to Landings Credit Union on Nov. 1 to remove “perceivedbarriers to membership and establish the foundation for futuregrowth,” according to a statement released by the credit union.

“This is an exciting time as we write the next chapter in ourhistory and become Landings Credit Union,” said MargaretHunnicutt, president/CEO of the cooperative. “This name isstrong and distinctive, just like our members. The name honorsour past and lays the foundation for our future.”

The credit union was founded in Tempe. Its new name pays tributeto the city's founding as a safe landing place for those settlersarriving on Hayden's Ferry in the 19th century.
