The $42 million Franklin Trust Federal Credit Union in Hartford, Conn., has become a community charter credit union.

The 5,800-member Franklin Trust had been limited to serving SEGs but now is open to membership to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Hartford County, the credit union announced last week.

Founded in 1934, Franklin Trust said it is the nation's fourth-oldest federal credit union and serves members from two branches and two satellite offices in high schools in Hartford.
