The $78 million ParksideCreditUnionin Livonia, Mich., is celebrating its 60th anniversary this monthwith “Sixty Years Serving You” Member Appreciation Days, which willfeature refreshments, giveaways, prize drawings, special guests andfree on-site shredding of documents for all members at twolocations.

“The 60-year anniversary of the founding of the credit union isan exciting milestone,” said Martin Carter, CEO of the 13,800-member institution in suburbanDetroit. “We are proud of the heritage we have established and wantto celebrate this momentous occasion with our members and staffwho've made this growth possible.”

In honor of the anniversary, Carter said, the credit union hasinvited some prominent members from the past to participate in theupcoming celebrations, including 93-year-old John Reyman, ParksideCU's longest tenured member.

Reyman, who still resides in the area, helped form Parkside in1953 with 20 other individuals, the credit union said.

As a volunteer board member and also an employee at the time thecredit union formed, Reyman was responsible for soliciting newmemberships and developing new products and services, the creditunion said, and with his assistance, the credit union gained over100 members in the first few years.
