The Senate Banking Committee failed to achieve quorum Tuesday to vote on a pending group of six nominees that include Richard Metsger, nominated to join the NCUA Board.

The inability to achieve quorum isn't necessarily a bad sign for Metsger's confirmation, because the group also includes a more controversial appointment, that of Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.), nominated to serve as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

According to a release from the committee, the group will attempt another vote during an executive session, open to the public, on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

If approved by the committee and confirmed by the full Senate, Metsger would fill the vacant seat left by former board member Gigi Hyland, who resigned last October.
