House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.) and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) announced Monday they will launch their nationwide tax reform roadshow in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area next week.
In a release from the Ways and Means committee, the two said they will make a series of trips so the two leaders can "hear directly from Americans about how to spark a more prosperous economy and make today's broken tax code fairer for families and job creators."
On July 8 in Minnesota, the two will visit multinational corporation 3M Company and Baldinger Bakery, a family run business.

"Over the past two years we've heard from hundreds of experts on how to fix the tax code to make it simpler for families and spark a more prosperous economy," the two members of Congress said in the release. "We want even more input and want to hear directly from the American people. That is why we are going around the country and starting off in St. Paul, meeting with leaders in business — big and small."
Baucus and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), who is the Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, asked senators June 27 to provide them with a list of exemptions by July 26 that they think should survive tax reform.
The two have said they are taking a blank slate approach to tax reform, starting with the assumption that all tax expenditures will be eliminated, and working to determine which should be kept in the tax code.
