Millbury Federal Credit Union Millbury, Mass., announced the promotion of George Wheeler to assistant vice president and audit officer. Wheeler has been a longtime employee of MCU, working exclusively in the audit department reporting to the MCU supervisory committee. He is a designated NAFCU certified compliance officer and certified fraud examiner. Wheeler is a graduate of Johnson and Wales College, Providence, R.I., with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. The credit union also announced the promotion of Kevin Hayes to assistant vice president and branch manager of the Main Street, Millbury office. Hayes previously the branch manager of the MCU Auburn office. Hayes has managed MCU's school banking program along with MCU's student choice lending program. He coordinates various financial literacy programs and seminars for MCU. Hayes is a graduate of Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass., with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

People's Credit Union, Middletown, R.I., announced the appointment of Amy Mitchell to Wakefield branch manager. In this position, Mitchell is responsible for managing the activities and staff in the branch office and providing service to members through the effective sales of all credit union products and services. Mitchell has  been working for People's Credit Union since 2008; she started as a member service representative. Her most recent position was as assistant branch manager in the Wakefield office. Mitchell holds a degree in engineering with a minor in economics from Roger Williams University.

Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif., announced that its chairman of the board, Darryl F. Johnson, has been elected to serve as a board member for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. Johnson joins this group as its first credit union representative. Governed by a 140-member board of directors, the L.A. Area Chamber works to shape the region through its strategic initiatives and advocacy efforts surrounding key issues facing Southern California. Johnson, a retired aerospace executive, Johnson held many leadership positions at Raytheon Systems Co. (formerly Hughes Aircraft Co.), including director of group administration and services and executive in charge of enterprise services. He served with the U.S. Army and is a retired colonel in the Army Reserves, formally attached to the 7th Special Forces Group, Ft. Bragg, N.C. He received a master's degree in public administration from Golden State University in San Francisco and earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Mountain America Credit Union, West Jordan, Utah, has named Tyson Taylor manager of its new Albuquerque branch. Located on Ventura Street NE, the new branch is one of two Mountain America branches in Albuquerque.

MIDWEST

Centra Credit Union, Columbus, Ind., announced that Brett Vanderkolk has joined the credit union as chief financial officer. Vanderkolk has extensive background in banking and corporate finance for both financial and commercial organizations, having spent over 20 years in various treasury and financial management roles, most recently as director-treasury strategy for Cummins, Inc. A graduate of DePauw University with a B.A.in economics and of the University of Chicago with an MBA in finance, Vanderkolk has developed his career through positions with Northern Trust Bank in capital markets, in Arvin Industries' corporate finance division and with Irwin Financial Corp. 

Wright-Patt Credit Union, Fairborn, Ohio, has announced the addition of Rosanne Schutzman as vice president of information technology and support services. Schutzman joined the credit union after recently serving as vice president of application development at American Modern Insurance Group in Amelia, Ohio. Schutzman brings 28 years of large-scale project management and development experience, including 14 years at the executive level in operations, technology, and application development to the credit union. Schutzman's experience also includes serving as vice president of operations and technology, as well as project manager and programming analyst, at nationally recognized financial institutions. She has held several vice president and senior vice president roles throughout the United States and will now lead the credit union's information technology department. Shutzman received a bachelor of science in business administration, management information systems from Xavier University.

Local Government Federal Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., announced the appointment of Dayatra Matthews to the newly created position of senior vice president, legal and compliance. Matthews, who spent the last 14 years in private practice at the Raleigh law firm of Bailey & Dixon, LLP, has a background in commercial and business litigation, contract law, real estate litigation, employment and labor law, municipal law, complex personal injury litigation and insurance defense. In her new position, she will ensure LGFCU conducts its business in compliance with all laws and regulations, as well as act as a legal resource on the interpretation and application of existing and proposed local, state and federal laws affecting credit unions. Matthews is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a 1997 graduate of Duke University School of Law.
