The $716 million, 56,800-member United Heritage Credit Union threw a party for the one-year anniversary of the opening of its River Place branch in its hometown of Austin, Texas. Activities at the recent celebration included food and beverages, games and a vote to help a local school win $500.

Free safe deposit boxes were offered and a drawing was held for two mini iPads. The event, held on Dec. 5 and again on Dec. 8, also included a visit from Bevo, the University of Texas longhorn mascot, a balloon artist and face painters.

The credit union said new membership and account openings that day were triple the normal pace. “We're excited about the new members we've gained and the additional accounts opened by existing members. The anniversary events and promotions have helped United Heritage gain more traction in the River Place area,” says branch manager Trey Bertelson.
