In 2003, 47% of vehicle purchases began online. Today, that percentage has more than doubled to 95%.

GrooveCar Inc., an auto buying service for credit unions, has launched a national campaign to help the industry capitalize on that growth.

Each credit union will have their own branded auto buying website that provides members with research and comparison tools, according to the GrooveCar in Hauppauge, N.Y.

The customized site will highlight areas underscoring their auto loan rates, specific auto loan services and the ability to immediately apply for a loan. The site also enables the user to “build a car,” see how the chosen vehicle compares with others and access the call center at a toll-free number.

GrooveCar has also appointed Shaun Burroughs as national sales director and Krystal Fletcher, as vice president of business development to direct the effort to enroll credit unions into its program. Burroughs spent 18 years at Enterprise Holdings, including a decade working with credit unions, according to GrooveCar.
