The $598 million Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union inMerritt Island, Fla., has tapped Joe Mirachi as its new CEO.

Mirachi had been president/CEO at the $137 million Tucson Old Pueblo Credit Union in Arizona.

He joined TOPCU in September 2008 at the height of the financialcrisis and under his leadership the credit union focused onimproving operating efficiencies, strengthening employeedevelopment processes, and enhancing member service capabilities,his new employer said.

As a result, despite a challenging economic environment, TOPCUposted strong net income for 2010 and 2011, Kennedy Space CenterFCU said in a statement.

Before leading TOPCU, Mirachi also held a number of seniormanagement positions, including chief financial officer andexecutive vice president over a 12-year span at Kirtland FCU inAlbuquerque, N.M.

He holds a degree in economics from Ramapo College, a graduatecertificate from the American Institute of Banking, and an MBA inmanagement from Baruch College.
