Experian said it has partnered with an electronic rentalcollections company to help expand the ability for renters to buildtheir credit history.

The partnership with ClearNow will expand the amount of dataExperian currently receives from its RentBureau operation, whichnow gets data from more than 3,000 apartment communities, thecompany said.

Most of those are large property management companies, Experian said. ClearNow – which collects rents via automaticdebits – will add data from large apartment complexes tosingle-property managers via an opt in from the tenants, thecompany said.

“In the past year, we have led the industry in helping rentersbuild credit history, and with the latest collaboration withClearNow, we are achieving another major milestone.” said StevenWagner, president, Experian Consumer Information Services, in CostaMesa, Calif.

Experian said RentBureau receives rental payment histories every24 hours from property management companies and currently includesmore than 9 million residents nationwide.
