As nonprofits continue to struggle, Advantis Credit Union has figured out a way to make a real difference in the communities it serves with GROW: the Advantis Community Fund.
According to Wendy Edwards, vice president of marketing/human resources at Advantis, GROW aims to revitalize communities by providing access to financial resources to help tackle a wide range of local needs and challenges.
"The GROW name and logo represents our commitment to seed projects that can be nurtured by the community to grow and benefit many people," said Edwards.

With an initial fund of $50,000 and grants up to $10,000 each, the Advantis awards for small and mid-sized nonprofits were created to seed local projects that offer the most potential for long-term benefits.
Applications for an Advantis GROW grant will be accepted through Oct. 31. A selection committee will identify the projects with the most promise of long-term benefits, and the public will be invited to vote on the finalists via the Milwaukie, Ore.-based credit union's website and Facebook page beginning Nov. 4.
No stranger to community service, Advantis has been recognized as one of the top 10 small companies in Oregon for supporting charitable projects in the community. Advantis has contributed $276,000 and over 800 volunteer hours to charitable causes since 2009.
"We all pitch in to help at Advantis. We have a rich tradition of helping local charities by organizing staff to volunteer their time and to raise money to benefit community-based programs that support children, families, and senior citizens. It's all part of our commitment to the local community which has helped us grow and thrive for over 83 years," said Ron Barrick, Advantis president/CEO.
"At Advantis we're all about possibilities, and we are very excited to see what can be accomplished with the Grow fund which is dedicated to serving and improving our communities, one project at a time."
