CO-OP Financial Services' point-of-sale transactions were not impacted when its third-party processor, FIS, experienced an outage which shut down hundreds of its ATMs on Friday, an executive with the payments CUSO said Monday.

Caroline Lane, senior vice president with CO-OP in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., confirmed that that the CUSO had experience a processing outage starting a little bit after noon and continuing until about 3 p.m. PDT when the problem was corrected.

It took additional time for all the impacted systems to completely recover, Lane explained.

The processing outage meant intermittent processing for CO-OP ATMs, Lane said, but transactions at POS terminals went through thanks to “stand in” processing arrangements the CUSO had made.

FIS in Jacksonville, Fla., has not commented on the outage or its cause.
