Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican presidential candidate, will speak at the Iowa Credit Union Convention on Sept. 16.
The Iowa Credit Union League said Perry will share his thoughts on credit unions and the economy, and will also take questions from convention attendees.
“We are honored to have Governor Perry speak at our annual convention this September, and we hope to be able to share some of the issues that are affecting our industry,” said Patrick Jury, ICUL president/CEO.
The Iowa league's convention will take place at the Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines. Perry is scheduled to speak from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 16.
The announcement comes just after University of Iowa Community Credit Union President/CEO Jeff Disterhoft visited with President Obama at a White House forum on job creation in Peosta, Iowa, the league said.
Disterhoft spoke briefly with Obama to try to garner support for legislation that would raise the member business lending cap from the current 12.5% of assets to 27.5%.
