Listerhill Credit Union has announced the death of longtimeboard chairman Cyril B. Mann.

Mann, who passed away on June 28 at the age of 95, served theSheffield, Ala.-based credit union for 57 years and was recognizedby the World Council of Credit Unions as the longest-serving boardchairman.

A part of the credit union from its early days in 1953 as boardpresident, Mann is credited with helping Listerhill CU grow from asmall office within Reynolds Metals Co. into the eighth-largestcredit union in Alabama, with more than 69,000 members, $500million in assets and 17 branches.

“Looking at his age, you might wonder if Mr. Mann's position aschairman of the board was more of an honorary position than aposition of active leadership,” said Joyce Bates, vice presidentfor administration at Listerhill CU. “You have probably nevermet a man as devoted and active as Mr. Mann throughout his life,including his seventies, eighties, and nineties. He was selfless.He put Listerhill first.”
