Kirk Kordeleski, president/CEO of the $4.1 billion Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Bethpage, N.Y., has been named one of the “50 Most Influential Long Islanders of 2011” by the Long Island Press.

Kordeleski has been named to the newspaper’s 9-year-old “Power List” for the past four years. The list is based on the accomplishments made in the office and the influence the recipients have on daily life on Long Island.

At a reception this week for “Power List” recipients, Kordeleski also was given the 2011 Long Island MacArthur Airport “Take Flight” Award, “for best representing the future of business on Long Island and for his commitment to helping the Long Island economy ‘Take Flight.’”

The credit union’s annual family event that honors Long Island’s rich history in aviation, the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, was also recently voted “Best Annual Event / Festival on Long Island” for 2011.  More than 400,000 people attended the eighth-annual air show over Memorial Day Weekend.

Bethpage and Kordeleski also were recognized recently for their ongoing support of the YMCA of Long Island. He also received the 2011 John O’Neill Humanitarian Award for leading the credit union’s commitment to serving Long Island’s underserved communities and his involvement with Project GRAD Long Island, which helps young students achieve their college dreams.

“It is a continued honor to be included on the Long Island Press ‘Power List’ alongside so many significant Long Island community leaders,” Kordeleski said. “I want to thank Bethpage’s members who have continued to help Bethpage grow and remain Long Island’s largest community financial institution.”

Kordeleski has been president/CEO of Bethpage FCU since 2000. Since then, the credit union has tripled in assets and for the past two years, the credit union also has surpassed $1 billion in new loans. Membership increased by nearly 5,000 in the first quarter of 2011, to 184,000.
