The $4.3 billion Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union of Live Oak, Texas, has launched a new mobile banking application specifically for the Apple iPad.

The 353,000-member RBFCU is the first user of the app it helped develop with Vertifi Software LLC, a subsidiary of EasCorp of Burlington, Mass. The app provides remote check deposit through the iPad 2's camera and includes balances and transaction histories, transfers, loan payments, archived check images and secure messaging.

RBFCU now has downloadable apps that support mobile banking on iPhones, iPod Touches, iPads and Android devices.

"Our membership is comprised of many military men and women, and it is crucial that they have access to their accounts, regardless of where they are stationed or what mobile device they own," said Mary O'Rourke, the credit union's vice president of electronic services.

RBFCU has posted a YouTube video showing the app in action. The credit union is one of more than 175 now using the EasCorp subsidiary's imaging and other products.

"(RBFCU's) remote deposit capture program is one of the most successful in the financial services industry, with tens of thousands of active users depositing checks from their desktop scanners, smartphones—and now their iPads," said Alan Bernstein, president of Vertifi.
