Northeast CUSO, of Keene, N.H., thanked retired Chairman Fred Healey for his years of service, at its recent board meeting.

"On behalf of the board of directors, employees, and partners of Northeast CUSO, we want to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for Fred's years of service to our company," said Scott Anderson, CEO.

Healey, former president and CEO of Workers' Credit Union, provided the vision to establish the CUSO in 2004. It now provides infrastructure and services to manage small business loans for 19 credit unions and one other CUSO.

Foundations Merge

In a follow-up to the formation in January of the new Northwest Credit Union Association, the two foundations of the Oregon and Washington Credit Union leagues are planning to merge.

In a letter of intent signed April 1, the two groups said consolidation represents "an exciting opportunity to create a single and unified foundation dedicated to serving credit unions in the Northwest." In a statement, the two chairs Carlyn Roy of the Oregon foundation and Paula Slaye of the Washington foundation said both groups "are aligned with similar missions, visions, and commitments to support the credit union community."

The foundations will continue to support credit unions on scholarship, grants and programs such as the CU for Kids program.
