SunGard Availability Services said it has boosted the ability of its Web-based continuity planning tool to help credit unions and community banks stay in compliance and lower risk.

The Wayne, Pa., company said it has enhanced vendor management, risk assessment and reporting functions in its PLANet service, including checklists, places to note mitigation strategies and sorting functions intended to help organizations determine the probability and criticality of impacts on their operations.

The solution "gives us the tools and confidence that we are well-prepared for a potential business disruption and can continue to manage operations in the manner our customers expect and deserve," said Vance Vargo, chief executive officer at the $66 million, 6,500-member Family First Credit Union in Saginaw, Mich.
