In a quirky promo for financial literacy, the Ohio Credit Union League said it will be giving free round trip limo rides to downtown workers in Columbus next Tuesday during the lunch hour.

Coinciding with its annual convention, scheduled for next Monday, the league said it has hired the limos to transport the workers from in front of the Renaissance Columbus Hotel, site of the convention, to the popular Arena District in downtown Columbus with a return trip.

“Many people dream of saving enough money to spend their retirement years chauffeured around in a flashy car,” touted the league in promoting the “$tretch Your Buck” game show conducted while aboard.

“Credit unions believe strongly in the importance of bringing basic financial concepts like saving, budgeting, and differing wants from needs to the forefront,” said Patrick Harris, spokesperson for the Ohio League. “‘$tretch Your Buck Limo’ is a way for us to bring financial education to the streets of Columbus–literally. We hope folks working downtown take advantage of the free, flashy ride, while taking away useful financial concepts during the rides.

Riders will be tested on their personal finance knowledge, with the opportunity to answer questions on budgeting, saving, credit cards and loans to win additional prizes.

While aboard, riders will play as a team, answering three personal finance questions, a stoplight challenge question, and a question about credit unions. “Riders who answer all questions correctly will receive a free ‘Edison only wishes’ t-shirt,” said the league.
