An article in the publication Congressional Quarterly cites those positions as the best paid civil service positions in the government, according to data compiled by the Office of Personnel Management.

The article says that average salary for an NCUA senior examiner is $238,815. But NCUA Director of Public and Congressional Relations John McKechnie said that figure refers to the agency's regional directors. The average examiner salary is $88,000, he said.
Those who are paid $238,815 are "in charge of scrutinizing and verifying the validity of various financial records. They coordinate the agency's goals and make sure the administration runs in an efficient manner," according to the Office of Personnel Management.
The article cited other top paying position in the government as general attorney in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, $222,751, and chief medical officer of the Veterans Affairs Department, $220,382.
NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz receives an annual salary of $162,900. NCUA Board Members Michael Fryzel and Gigi Hyland have annual salaries of $153,200.
What about Biden and Roberts? Biden earns $227,300 annually. Roberts earns $223,500, the same salary as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
