The Cyber Monday rate sale at Pennsylvania's Postmark Credit Union turned out to be a success based on early numbers.
The $25 million Harrisburg CU decided to cash in on the online shopping blitz by promoting various products including a one-day, cut-rate loan sale.
"We had strong online response to the 3.99% Christmas loans, plus we had some new accounts opened, and several balance transfers," said Aline Osborn, marketing specialist.

The CU was particularly gratified, she said, that as a result of the promotion "we enticed our members to look at us, their financial institution, for Cyber Monday deals instead of just sticking to the usual retail businesses."
In keeping with the holiday shopping theme, and capturing some of the shopping fever, Dave Frey, CEO, conceived the CU's Cyber Monday as a way "to shop for deals from the credit union as well."
Postmark marketed the event through its website, a member e-mail, lobby signs and flyers at the drive through. Staff members also wore promotional buttons.
"We will definitely repeat this event next year," Osborn said.
