CoastHills Federal Credit Union has introduced an integrated marketing and mobile banking application for the iPhone that the Lompoc, Calif., institution said is a first.

Developed by Data Based Marketing of San Luis Obispo, Calif., the app combines marketing offers with credit union-specific news and mobile banking functionality such as account balances and transfers and ATM and branch locations.

"The new CoastHills app is different than the small number being published by other credit unions. Virtually all of these 100 or so apps offer just mobile banking functions," the $623 million credit union said.

CoastHills said it now is working on similar versions for Android and BlackBerry phones.

"As marketers, we have to move at the same warp speed," said Scott Coe, senior vice president.
