An iPad has upped the meaning of convenience at Unitus Community Credit Union.
Taking an iPad out to potential members and signing them up for accounts on the spot has helped Business Development Manager Brett Wooden sign up more members than a visit encouraging them to come into a branch.
The idea came when he met with a business client who did not have time to come into the branch.

As he helped her open accounts, check savings and loan interest rates, view the Unitus website and its new personal finance tool, he realized it could be a great way to bring banking to the people.
According to Wooden, although the campaign was targeted at reaching the youth market, it has proved popular across all age groups.
"It seems pretty popular all the way around," he said. "When you take an iPad with you, it saves time for the individual, his or her place of business and for Unitus."
The idea has not only garnered Wooden an award in the Real Solutions competition sponsored by the Credit Union Association of Oregon, but has generated calls from credit unions across the country wanting to learn more so they can do the same.
