Delta Community Credit Union in Atlanta said more than 10,000 of its 205,000 members have signed up to use its mobile banking service since the service was rolled out in June.

Delta Community is using Fiserv Inc.'s Mobile Money platform to provide the free service through any Web-enabled mobile device that supports WAP browsers, regardless of carrier.

“We did our homework before launching the service and felt confident that we were delivering the right capabilities at the right time. Clearly our members were ready for mobile banking,” said Bill Mesplay, the $3.7 billion institution's chief information officer.

Functionality includes account balances and transfers, bill pay, credit card transaction review and branch locations, as well as a text service that provides real-time account balances and most recent transactions.

The mobile offering was built as a customized version of the credit union's existing online banking service. Fiserv's Mobile Money incorporates technology from Atlanta-based mobile banking and payments solution provider M-Com.
