What's billed as the first mobile remote-deposit capture solution for Android-powered smart phones has been introduced by Bluepoint Solutions Inc.
Bluepoint is using Access Softek's Android mobile banking application to provide the capability to its QwikDeposit ToGo RDC functionality, the companies said.
The integrated solution was introduced at the BAI Retail Delivery show in Las Vegas last week. Andrew Tilbury, Bluepoint's marketing director, said the ability to offer RDC through Android phones will become increasingly important as the platform surges in popularity.

The software allows checks to be deposited by taking pictures of both sides of the check, which it then captures, formats, corrects to meet Check 21 and image-quality standards, and then securely transmits, Tilbury said.
Recent ComScore research showed the Android operating system holding 9 percent of the U.S. smart phone market but growing the fastest in the past six months.
Chris Donner, CEO of Access Softek, said, "With consumers trending more and more toward mobile devices for their banking needs and Android sales dominating the growth in smart phone operating systems, it is critical that financial institutions recognize the importance of Android and incorporate it into their self-service strategy."
Bluepoint Solutions is based in Vista, Calif., and provides item processing, enterprise content and receipt management to more than 600 financial institutions, primarily credit unions, the company said.
