GOP Rep. Roy Blunt, on whose behalf CUNA's PAC spent $152,500 in independent expenditures, won an open U.S. Senate seat in Missouri.CUNA's PAC also gave Blunt's campaign $10,000 and NAFCU's PAC gave it $1,000.

Sen. Russell Feingold (D-Wis.), Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.) and House Budget Committee Chairman John Spratt (R-SC) all lost their reelection bids.

Feingold received $3,000 from CUNA's PAC, Spratt received $10,000 and Pomeroy received $5,000.

Feingold is best known as the main sponsor of legislation that overhauled how campaigns are financed, much of which was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court. Spratt was the Democrat's top spokesman on fiscal issues.
