When: July 20-24
Where: Navy Pier, Chicago
The NAFCU sponsored conference will place heavy emphasis on both the problems and the opportunities that present themselves to American credit unions. In addition to an opening introduction by Chicago Bears coach and NFL Hall-of-Famer Mike Ditka, industry experts, such as NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz and Board Member Michael E. Fryzel, will give talks on topics like the use of social media, legislative and regulatory requirements that affect credit unions, and how to scout new lending options. This annual meeting of credit union leaders from around the country is an invaluable experience that will allow attendees to discuss the latest credit union services and product ideas with the innovators themselves.

Rumor had it that the Chicago fire originated when a cow kicked over a lantern in the barn of Catherine O'Leary-a bit of revenge for the thousands of its spotted ancestors that were carted off to Chicago slaughterhouses. The story, leaked by Chicago Republican reporter Michael Ahern, turned out to contain more bull than cow when Ahern's 1893 confession revealed he simply thought it would make for a good story.
