For members who work and live in war-torn and humanitarian crisis regions, United Nations Federal Credit Union is coming to their aid with international term life and personal accident insurance.

The new offering comes through an alliance between UNFCU Financial Advisors and Clements International. The insurance policies provide worldwide protection for members in countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to the subsidiary. The coverage includes natural or accidental death, and coverage for loss due to terrorism. Discounted rates are available for UNFCU members with coverage limits of up to $1 million.

"Our goal was to find an insurance solution and fill a void for our members who are right there on the front lines on humanitarian missions," said Stephen Ryerson, president of UNFCU Financial Advisors, who added that the institution is already seeing strong interest in the product at other United Nations hubs such as Kenya.
