Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, a candidate for U.S. Senate to fill the open seat of the retiring Christopher Dodd (D. Conn.), is getting a PAC boost from the Connecticut Credit Union League.

Citing Blumenthal's "extremely strong commitment to credit unions," the league said it has contributed $5,000 from its CUNA PAC funds to his campaign.

"Blumenthal has been attorney general for 20 years and do you know he has never once missed an invitation to one of our events," said Tony Emerson, president/CEO of the league in noting Blumenthal's steadfast CU support. He recently was a keynote speaker at the league's GAC conference.

The Connecticut AG is expected to face GOP challenger Linda McMahon, former CEO of the World Wrestling Federation in November.

League officials met with Blumenthal in his Hartford campaign headquarters to present the check. On hand was Kelly Ramsey Fuhlbrigge, the league's vice president of government relations.

"It is important for credit unions to support those public officials that recognize not only the value of what we provide to our members, but also the positive economic impact credit unions have in our communities," said Emerson. "Attorney General Blumenthal has exhibited an understanding, appreciation, and support for the good work that we do."
