Online Resources Corp. said it has received a new patent for a number of its biller service provider bill payment transactions.
The company said the new patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, a continuation of one that expired in December, extends to mid-2014 protection of the technology and processes used in its eCom Advantage Suite.
Online Resources said the original patent granted it “exclusive rights to process various real-time electronic ATM network-based debit transactions for consumers using home terminals to purchase goods or services, pay bills and/or do home banking.”
It said the patent also covers BSP bill payment transactions such as payments using credit cards, debit cards and PIN-less debit via live agent, IVR and Web-based payment systems.
Online Resources' eCom Advantage Suite is used for presentment, payment and receivables in the credit card, auto finance, mortgage, insurance, health care, telecommunications and utility industries, the company said.
Based in Chantilly, Va., the company counts 450 credit unions among its approximately 2,000 clients.
