Applications for BlackBerrys, iPhones and Android smart phones are among the features of the new mobile banking platform from Wescom Resources Group.
Programming staff at the 225-client CUSO of $2.7 billion Wescom Credit Union built the programs in-house and they are available as either hosted or in-house solutions, WRG said.
Eight credit unions already have committed to the new mobile banking platform, WRG said, including three that will be running them on non-WRG online banking platforms. More than 13,000 of Wescom's 300,000 members have downloaded the apps themselves since the April 1 launch.

They're being marketed under the MemberEdge brand name and include seamless integration with the CUSO's existing online banking solutions, including bill pay and alerts, the company said.
"The framework we designed is enabling us to push new features out quickly. In today's market, this is key. Mobile apps really tap into the social networking aspect of technology. Especially with the iPhone app, we have found that it helps make our members become loyal fans and evangelizers," said John Best, chief technology officer at WRG in Pasadena, Calif.
