First Tech Credit Union's dynamic squirrel duo, Chuck and Leroy, are at it again. This time they're appealing to new members.

The Beaverton, Ore-based credit union has launched a new television spot and microsite. www.nutsforfirsttech.com , designed to bring Chuck's First Tech member benefits to life.

"Nutsforfirsttech.com showcases the services we offer our members and our deep commitment to strengthening their financial lives," said Deborah Colby, First Tech's vice president of marketing. "Squirrels are always thinking forward and storing nuts for the future. That's exactly what First Tech helps its member to do, so we couldn't think of a better way to invite people to explore First Tech membership."

The new spot, called "Chock Full of Nuts," finds Chuck explaining to his financially challenged furry friend Leroy why he trusts his nuts to First Tech and ultimately convincing Leroy to deposit his hard earned nuts at First Tech.

The microsite features an interactive tour of Chuck's tree house that provides not only a peek at squirrel life but guests also learn how First Tech can help move their financial life forward. From budgeting wisely to saving for retirement to banking online, guests can learn all about the benefits of being a First Tech member just by clicking around the tree house. Visitors can also have some fun testing their squirrel IQ, tackling a classic puzzler or testing their balance in a high wire acorn challenge.

In conjunction with the online campaign, First Tech is offering new members $50 when they open a checking account with direct deposit through June 7.

First Tech tapped Portland, Ore.-based marketing agency R/West to create the microsite and television spot. R/West worked with animators from Hive, the creators of the Oscar-nominated stop-motion 3-D film Coraline, and Portland, Ore.-based film production company Hidden City to bring Chuck and Leroy to life. A squirrel-sized tree house was constructed and a motion control camera was used to capture the realistic visuals for nutsforfirsttech.com .

"We knew First Tech wanted to highlight the benefits of being a member and what sets them apart from other financial institutions, but in a fun and interactive way," said Sean Blixseth, president/creative director at R/West. "Nutsforfirsttech.com gives you a close-up view of what it's like to be a part of the First Tech family."
