NEW ORLEANS – A record 358 CUNA CFO Council members are attending today's annual conference here, according to Cheryl Sorenson, CUNA conference and meetings manager.
"We've bounced back nicely from last year," she said, referring to record low attendance in 2009.
Executive committee member Brandon Michaels, chief financial officer at the $420 million Mazuma Credit Union, credited the increase to a strong agenda and networking benefits.

"Webinars are one thing, but I meet so many CFOs here, and afterwards I can always call them and ask, 'Can I see how you dealt with that NCUA accounting bulletin?' or whatever," he said. "Without those relationships you develop at conferences like these, you're kind of on your own."
The event has had one snag, however. Yesterday's golf tournament was cancelled due to strong thunderstorms and flash flooding.
"On Canal Street, the water came all the way up to the car doors," Sorenson said.
