The Wisconsin Credit Union House, patterned after its Washington counterpart, will get its first major political tryout in two weeks when the state's top Republican and Democratic candidates for governor appear at "meet and greet" sessions in the Madison facility.
Up to now the Wisconsin Credit Union League has used CU House on a more limited basis but "now these events will give credit unions a little more visibility than we've had in the past," said a league spokesman.
CU Houses have been a fixture of league advocacy including one opened in Oklahoma City, the new headquarters for the Oklahoma Credit Union League as well as one in Jefferson City, Mo., operated by the Missouri Credit Union Association. The Association informally opened its facility nearly two years ago.

Tom Barrett, Milwaukee's Democrat mayor, will participate in "Meet and Greet" June 22 at CU House while GOP's Scott Walker of Wauwatosa and the Milwaukee County Executive will appear June 29.
The two events will give members of the league's advocacy group good training for the fall elections "in learning about the candidates, help them understand credit unions and how we're helping meet the needs of our members and communities," said the spokesman.
