The record-breaking winter snowstorm across the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Midwest continued Tuesday to create havoc with credit union operations.
Many government CUs in the District of Columbia closed down all together for a second straight day and those in Maryland, Delaware and elsewhere stayed open on reduced schedules.
Staffers from CUNA, NAFCU and state leagues across the region employed cell phones, e-mail or other devices to keep in communication with members and the public as normal business operations in some areas came to a standstill.

"We opened today at 10 a.m. and we may close at 4, depending on how the snow sticks, to give our employees a chance to get home before the next storm hits," said Bert Hash, president/CEO of the $1 billion Municipal Employees CU of Baltimore, a city where snow depths reached 32 inches.
Based on the latest weather alerts, the Connecticut Credit Union League said it already has cancelled a special Compliance School RESPA session on Wednesday and is rescheduling a separate one slated for Thursday.
The Maryland/DC Credit Union Association said it too had cancelled a special Maryland Legislative Reception for state lawmakers scheduled for tonight in Annapolis. It will be postponed until Feb. 18 at the Governor Calvert House Inn site.
