Donations to the National Credit Union Foundation's CUAid Disaster Relief effort that benefits Haitian earthquake victims total $98,736 as of 2 pm Eastern Time, said Jill Stevenson, communications and marketing coordinator for the NCUF.

Stevenson said there has been an "amazing outpouring of support from the credit union community," with donations ranging from $10 to thousands of dollars. Credit union employees, volunteers, members and industry organizations have all contributed, she said.

The nearly six figure sum does not include donations that were received by WOCCU, which has employees working on-site in Haiti to bring financial services to the rural poor.
