The $59 million A-K Valley Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Pittsburgh, has announced that it is closing one of its four branches because the branch has been robbed too often.
"It is with saddened hearts and much discussion that this decision was made," the credit union said, citing its "concern for the safety of our employees and the members who use the credit union."
A-K said that the credit union had been robbed at gunpoint four times and media reports said the CU had lost an employee over the repeated robberies. In the latest incident, the CU reported the branch had been broken into on New Year's Day but nothing stolen and no member records were compromised.
