Kent County Credit Union, Grand Rapids, Mich., hosted a grand opening celebration at its newest branch location in Cedar Springs. Patricia Capek, City of Cedar Springs city councilor, welcomed the credit union's CEO, Ray Ward, to the community. A week of special member activities followed the event.
Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, N.Y., held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of its newest branch location in Roosevelt. The site will be the credit union's 20th Long Island community branch. The location was chosen because the community was underserved and historically ignored by banks. The branch is expected to bring new jobs and vibrancy to the area.
Veridian Credit Union, Waterloo, Iowa, celebrated the grand opening of a new branch in Johnston with activities and prizes. More than 300 people were in attendance. The new, full-service branch has three drive-up lanes, a drive-up ATM, six teller stations, a self-serve coin machine, safe deposit boxes and office space dedicated to mortgage and consumer lending.

This living green roof will reduce air-conditioning costs and protect the rooftop from ultraviolet radiation, large temperature fluctuations, drying winds and punctures. The green addition has geothermal heating and cooling, a bioretention basin, reclaimed timbers, ICF walls, earth berms, grass pavers, recycled floor coverings, glass block windows with nanogel and natural day light.
Patelco Credit Union, Danville, Calif., Patelco Credit Union opened a new branch in downtown Danville, its 18th branch in the East Bay. During the first eight weeks of operation, the new branch hosted several community events, including a pet adoption day and a preview exhibition and reception for Danville Open Studios to promote local artists. The grand opening celebration culminated with the ribbon-cutting ceremony where five local residents were given the opportunity to win up to $50,000.
UW Credit Union, Madison, Wis., opened its 11th Dane County branch location in Fitchburg. The branch is also its third new location in the past year. Environmentally friendly resources were used to build the branch. It includes drive-up lanes, surcharge-free ATMS, safe deposit boxes, convenient parking and bike racks for members.
JetStream Federal Credit Union, Miami Lakes, Fla., celebrated the grand opening of its newest branch location in Hialeah. The branch is the credit union's sixth branch location in Miami-Dade County. Among the festivities was the ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina and Hialeah council members.
American Eagle Credit Union, O'Fallon, Mo., celebrated the opening of its new branch in O'Fallon by holding an open house, ribbon-cutting ceremony and a family day. The credit union also made a $500 donation to the Burns Recovered Support Group, the Missouri Children's Burn Camp and Camp Sabra at the Lake of the Ozarks.
FocalPoint Federal Credit Union, Syracuse, N.Y. celebrated the opening of its new Chittenango branch with a live radio broadcast and a free community shred day. Everyone in attendance and those who tuned in to the broadcast were offered a chance to call into the radio station to win prizes, such as a flat-screen TV and a portable DVD player. Since opening, the credit union also hosted weekly drawings, allowing members a chance to win movie tickets for four.
