SimpliFi, a new online financial planning tool offered by Alliant Credit Union, features "Sophie," a virtual adviser to walk members through the process. The free planning service allows members of the $6.6 billion Alliant to aggregate all of their online data including keeping track of brokerage accounts, balances, mortgage and credit card activity. SimpliFi also details how much is needed to save for retirement over a specified period of time and recommend types of investment to consider. Sophie, an animated, talking virtual financial advisor, will guide members through the financial assessment and planning process. The Chicago-based Alliant said it takes 20 minutes for members to set up their accounts. Information can also be saved for future online sessions.
