Former NCUA Board Chairman Michael Fryzel was honored by the $1.3 billion Polish and Slavic Federal Credit Union when he took the honorary chairmanship of the annual Pulaski Day parade, in which the CU participates and sponsors.

The parade remembers Kazimierz Pu?aski, a Polish nobleman who served in the American Revolutionary Army. Fryzel is the first Polish American to have served on the NCUA board, and the credit union honored him with a plaque and a medal commemorating his role in the Oct. 4 parade

"I am honored to have been named honorary grand Marshall of the 2009 parade honoring General Pulaski," Fryzel noted. "His contribution to our country often goes unnoticed, and it is important that the committee continues to honor him as a great leader who gave his life due to wounds suffered in battle for America at the age 34."

Fryzel also acknowledged the work done by the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union in working with the community in sponsoring the parade and numerous other community events.

"The credit union exemplifies what credit unions do best, give back to the community and provide the support for all types of events," Fryzel stated. "They provide scholarships, support cultural events and continue to serve their members and meet their financial needs. I commend them for their efforts."
