Robert Nelson, district director of the SBA's Massachusetts district office, will be the guest speaker at an October lending forum for New England credit unions.
The Oct. 8 free seminar will feature a run-down on the SBA's 504 and 7(a) loan programs and is sponsored by business lending consulting firm J.R. Bruno & Associates and the Bay Colony Development Corp., a certified development company that funds loans in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Vermont.
With the American Investment and Recovery Act of 2009 currently waiving fees on 7(a) and 504 loans for borrowers and lenders, the timing may be right for credit unions to participate in the SBA's loan programs, said Mike Topalian, Bay Colony's senior vice president, sales and marketing.

"We look forward to showing credit unions how helping members grow their businesses can grow their organization's bottom line," Topalian said.
In addition to Nelson, other SBA staffers from several districts offices are scheduled to attend the session, which will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Sheraton Needham in Massachusetts.
