United Teletech Financial Federal Credit Union, Tinton Falls, N.J., participated in Clean Ocean Action’s annual beach sweep at Sandy Hook. The credit union has participated in this effort since 2006. In addition to picking up trash, United Teletech employees, family and members completed data cards, which are reviewed and entered in a computer database and analyzed by COA. Data collected from the beach cleanups is used to identify and monitor pollution trends. The information helps find solutions to keep New Jersey beaches clean and healthy for citizens and marine life. Advance Financial Federal Credit Union, Schererville, Ill., participated in a March of Dimes Blue Jeans for Babies day. Twenty-seven employees each made a donation of $5 for the opportunity to wear blue jeans and their logo attire on a Friday. The credit union raised a total of $135. Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union, Indianapolis, focused on encouraging young members to save during its 2009 youth savings campaign. The theme for the campaign was “Save, Spend and Soar with Seymour.” It featured the credit union’s frog mascot, Seymour de Green, and benefited Children’s Miracle Network-specifically, Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. ELFCU donated $5 for every new youth membership opened and $10 for every new Seymour Certificate opened during the campaign period. Members also had the opportunity to make personal donations through the credit union. In the end, ELFCU raised $3,234 in donations. With a dollar-for-dollar match from CO-OP Financial Services, the donation totaled $6,468.
