Robert Burrell, former chief investment officer at Western Corporate Federal Credit Union, has turned up at RiskSpan, the Stamford, Conn.-based data and risk management firm. At the time of conservatorship, WesCorp was a RiskSpan client; co-founder Joe Sturtevant spoke at the corporate's economic forum last October.
Burrell has been with the firm nearly two months, working out of his home in Southern California in a newly created sales role. Because WesCorp was an early RiskSpan client, Burrell said he will supply his years of client experience as the firm undergoes restructuring and focuses on product positioning. Burrell will also "broaden business development and marketing relative to financial institutions," pitching RiskSpan's software products.
Burrell said it's unlikely he will personally valuate any corporate-owned mortgage-backed investments, even though RiskSpan does provide the service. When asked if he would assist with RiskSpan's WesCorp account in the future, he replied, "That's up to WesCorp."
